It was a muggy night, the rains having just passed. Spring was slowly making way for the warmer temperatures of summer, and, in Athena, summer could be unbearable at times, especially after a rain shower. For those fortunate enough to have been blessed with the modern marvel of air conditioning, the sweltering heat didn't affect them as much. An added plus was that most of the stores in the area were also air conditioned, so the heat wasn't such a nuisance.
However, there were few community lots that didn't have such a convenience; like the laundromat three blocks that way from Matti's apar

"Thanks for the ride," I said sheepishly as I thought of my little asian sedan on its four flat tires.
"No problem," she smiled. "Sorry it's so hot," she grimaced, fidding with the air conditioner switch, "fam dammie switchie brokie," she said, the words perfectly clear as if she had meant them.
We sat silently for a moment, her gunmetal eyes cutting to the side to see if I had noticed.
"Wow," I grinned. "Sounded like to mean to say that."
